Kat's August '01 Bobcat News

Hi, Bobcat Classmates!  (8/1/01)

I'm Kathie Faulkner Jones from CHS, 1966.  Summer is almost over and school is about to begin.  I've had a wonderful summer beginning in San Francisco the end of June, and traveling down the Pacific Coast Highway to Los Angeles.  Three weeks later, I found myself in Gulfport, MS, N'awlins, and Gulfshores, AL for another week.  Seems I just had time to come home, repack the suitcase, and leave again.  I think that's why I teach?

While I was in San Francisco, I caught up with Sherry Bergman Kettering, CHS '66.  I  was inspired through a web site I had viewed on the Internet.  I found Sleepy Hollow Elementary School in Orinda, California, took pictures, and visited with Sherry in her home.  I met new friends and renewed an old friendship after all these years!  Thanks, Sherry!  I'll be back! It's great to be back in touch with Bobcats!

On down the coast, I visited with the Crowe's at their home in Burbank.  We toured the big city, LA and went to see the LION KING.  It was a grand performance I'll never forget.  And after being on the road, it was wonderful to eat my first whole artichoke, and to taste lamb that Ronnie ('64) and Anna prepared…lamb that cooked just to perfection!  Of course, they laughed!  I have never seen artichoke fields either!

And I have been to Savannah, Georgia, to see Robin Tyler ('65) this summer.  We had a good time reminiscing old times, and catching up on news.  Robin lived in Augusta, GA (my home, Martinez, GA) for about a year before moving to Savannah.

Which now brings me to the point of this note.  I have shared a lot of memories over the past few years with friends…friends I had not seen in thirty? years.  I dare not count!  I wrote to J Mercer last week and mentioned there not being a class rep for 1966.  I think that is all it took.  I asked him WHY?  The next thing I knew, he sent me the web site!  AND I guess that answered my question…so I have volunteered.

I would like your help in putting together a newsletter about our class once a month or so.  I would like pictures, news and notes about you and yours, your dog, your cat, and grandkids.  What are you doing now?  What are your plans?  AND hearing what you have been up to!  If this were to get a little lengthy, I would probably do a feature on a couple of people at a time.  This depends on a lot, of course, on YOU, and the information.

I did attend London, August 2000, Reunion, last year.  We renewed friendships, met the teachers and met more new Bobcats as well!  Fantastic reunion!  It seems this family is growing in leaps and bounds.  J Mercer has done a fantastic job with the Bobcat web site.  Have a look!

I've caught some of his midnight hours on the Internet! Have you been to the Bobcat Chat?

OK, Bobcats, let me know your thoughts and ideas. I'm open to suggestions.  Any news from other class reps will be shared as well.  I look forward to hearing from you all.  Any classmates found, I will let you know and you do the same.  Take care, and I look forward to lots of mail!!
