Hello

I went to Dreux American High School in France where Mr. Francis was a teacher from 1960-1966.  He also taught there in London in the mid-late 50's.  I didn't know if you all had heard that he passed away last weekend.  I know he was a very popular teacher at Dreux and thought you might want to pass this information along to your alumni.

Here is the copy from his obit:

<<Paul George Francis

Paul Francis, 81, died at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, CA on Saturday, January 6, 2007, the Feast of the Epiphany. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 1, 1925.
He graduated from Dormont High School in 1943. Then he attended Harvard University, Class of 1947. Upon graduating from Harvard, he completed a Masters Degree in History at Boston University.

While traveling in London in 1952, he was hired by the U.S. Government to work in the Department of Defense

Overseas Schools (DODDS). During his teaching career with DODDS, he taught in London; Casablanca, Morocco; Dreux and Paris France. While at Dreux, he purchased a country house in the village of Blevy (Eure et Loir) where he entertained friends for more than 40 years.

When NATO moved from Paris to Brussels in 1967, he taught at Brussels American School until he retired after 43 years in the DODDS schools.

He moved to Palm Springs in 2005 and became very active in the art world, St. Paul's in the Desert Episcopal Church, and Integrity.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's in the Desert Episcopal Church. No flowers; contributions in Paul's memory may be made to your favorite charity.
Published in The Desert Sun on 1/12/2007.

I just thought I would let you know of the passing of Cindy.  I met Cindy when we were both working at American Express Travel in Omaha some 15years ago.  I Googled her this morning and found that she had signed up under your website - and thought you may want to pass this on to her fellow classmates.

Glenn Crepps aka El Rhino and Mr Tyron

I dread looking at this page.. but then I was remembering Glenn...  Ya know I had a smile as well.  He kept to who he was, and made the world a little bit better and from i have read.. turned into an outstanding human being.. he will be and is missed And Mr Tyron.. wow he bought me a hotdog at the bowling alley at LCHS right before he suspended me for skipping! That was right after I had him star in a movie I had done for Mr Smiths Cinematics class called Comix LOL ( he waited until I had finished shooting the scene with him in it !)  I know even he said it made no sense since I wanted a few days off anyway. I was also remembering Glenns love of those nasty microwave cheeseburgers in our snack room and also he was the worse pinball player that ever played that machine. The times at AYA or the magical forest when we were goofing around and skipping and just being Airforce brat kids. Yeah a lot of memories came flooding back in. Im just very grateful for this site and how it has let us make and remake connections to our past. Most other kids had one school they went too. We had many and we always moved every 3-5 years, but somehow LCHS and the brats I knew will always be held close So hey a Cold one and Nasty hot dog in toast to you Glenn and Mr Tyron and also to the ones I never knew ..  I hope you all remember us left here as fondly as we remember you

I always enjoyed hanging out with musicians and jamming.  Got to hang out in the studio in Detroit with George Clinton and Funkadelic, the Four Tops, and and R&B band the Dramatics because I loved music and musicians so much.

I emailed Wallace earlier this year from my Hotmail account and he responded.  I am not sure if he remembered me but he was full of encouragement.  That made my year when I got a response.

I just want to say that I am sorry he passed and my condolences to Erin and Kris and your mother, if she is still alive.  This man touched people and got people to create.  In my Yearbook, it has a picture of Wallace Threlkeld and it says Wallace Threlkeld "Fine Arts".  That is a wonderful memory...a fine artist.

Fast forward to college in 1976 at Michigan State University, more bands, more guitars and I ended up working for A&M Records during college and promoted Joan Armatrading and got to meet her when I took her to a radio interview.  That night I met her guitar player Jerry Donahue in Michigan.  When I mentioned London Central and Wally Threlkeld ...he was my best friend.

I am sure Mr. Threlkeld taught lots of students how to play instruments and have some discipline...he just was that kind of guy. I kept doing the music business after college, owned my own independent record label in the 80's, had some nominal success with groups that got signed by Sony and Time Warner....owned a record label with (now) Hollywood producer Ben Grosse and lived in Grammy Award winning record producer Don Was's house in Michigan.

My name is Scott Forman and for about 5 Months back in 1975/76 I was a guitar student - a member of Wallace Threlkeld's class in England at London Central High School in High Wycombe.  I also liked his daughter Kris Threlkeld and went over to their house once for dinner or after school.  I remember his smile, his big huge glasses and his full head of hair.

He was a super friendly, encouraging, music loving, jazz loving teacher.  He taught me scales.  He also told me about the group America "Horse with No name", "Ventura Highway" etc, and how they used to be students at London Central.  They actually named the group America because they were living overseas and wanted to come home, like most of us.  He also told me about another guitar player from the same school Jerry Donahue - who played for the artist Joan Armatrading.  After London Central I moved to Spain with my family, my dad worked for Chrysler, I played and practiced more guitar and started bands there...wrote songs and performed a bit but always practice.

This is in remembrance of my dear friend Glenn Crepps.  He was a shining light in the world, a true spirit.  I just found out about his passing away after 7 years.  Glen adopted me as his younger brother and helped me through the tough times in my youth.  May his soul rest in peace as his departure is a loss to humanity.  Glenn graduated with two masters of science in Chemistry and computer science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.  His down to earth approach to life with a clean white T shirt and blue Jeans could have mislead many people but he was a genius and God took him away from us too soon.  I just think if Glenn was around he could have contributed so much more to science and humanity.  As I understand he was the inventor of the color fax.  He was also a kind hearted humanitarian.  If he had just $5 he would feed the homeless rather than to eat himself.  Mankind may not see the like of Glenn for centuries.   He was one of a kind.  Farzod Shironi  FarzodS@aol.com

My brother, Frank Wesley Pitts, Jr. was in the class of 1966.  Back then he was called Frank or Frankie - later we called him Wes.  My sister and I were 9 and 11 years younger and went to West Ruislip Elementary; we lived at Carpenders Park.  We came back to the states in 1967, not long after Wes joined the USAF.  He was stationed in England during the 70's, but returned to the states after leaving the AF.  Wes passed away in Houston, Texas on April 10, 1996.  We had been somewhat estranged in the last 10 years or so of his life.  Just days before his death he told me that the next part of his life was going to be all about change, and that he wanted to get to know me again, as well as my kids.  We never had that chance.  My prayer is that he accepted Jesus before he left this life, and that we will finally get that chance someday.  God bless you all for keeping the memories alive.  Melissa (Pitts) Sewell ~ msewell2@houston.rr.com

This is Lynne Hardinge-Brown, London Central 1975.  My 16 year old twin son Corrin Andrew Travis died mid-morning January 1, 2003 as the result of injuries suffered as a passenger in a single automobile accident on Christmas night.  A beloved son, brother, and friend, Corrin was avid aggressive inline skater, A league soccer player since elementary school and he was currently playing winter basketball with the recreation league Gators.  At Loudoun Valley High School, Corrin was preparing to enter college to study art and design, especially computer graphics and other areas related to film-making.  He had become quite adept at filming and editing videos and was in demand for help in this area on other classmates' projects.  He was also a member of the German Club.  His brothers, Morgan (18) and (twin) Andrew Travis and I have been struggling with this terrible tragedy together -- We are a strong and loving family and remember Corrin as the tallest, most affectionate and funniest of us all.
