Dear Bobcats:   (1/28/04)

First off...Happy New Year! I've been refurbishing necessities (heat and AC System) at the house over the holidays, and the further I went, the behinder I got because one thing always leads to another. I know three things, keeping up a house is work, school is in full force, and I've heard from many new Bobcats, which is always a great treat!

Lynne Kuckuck wrote an interesting note back in October. She is in New Jersey. We worked on the "High Times" together and recalling memories has been such fun! Lynne says Mr. Abromowitz didn't know he was nurturing a future artist when the class took the trip to the Royal Academy and Tate back when. Lynne's email address is: LynneKuckuck@aol.com   Drop her a line anytime.

Lynne also heard from Julie Filstead. Her new email address is
aitken_j@bellsouth.net   Let us hear from you, Julie!

John Tausky stayed in London until December, 1966, and Army orders has taken him to distant places beyond. Since 1967 he's lived in New Jersey, and Louisiana. After being selected for OCS in Oklahoma and commissioned in March, 1968, John served a four year tour in Vietnam, and upon returning to the US, resigned his commission. Just couldn't stay away from London! Went back to manage the PX's Toy Town and met his wife. Now, John, married for 30 years, has a 23 year old son, 21 year old daughter, and a seventeen year old just graduating from high school this year.

In John's travels, he caught up with David Johnson, whom he saw for the last time in 1975. David was killed in a helicopter crash three months later after visiting with John. John, Paul Spitale, and Bill Martin are all in touch, and found Chris Vandenheuvel living in New Mexico. So, glad to hear you all are safe and sound after all these years. You may write John at JCT@daly.com  Thanks John for the update!

Paul Spitale's email address is PAULBGR8@aol.com Paul is in Navato, CA, just north of San Fran. Paul visited with John back in the fall and had I known, I would have warned the neighbors and friends that these two were back in the midst of mischief once again!

Nancy Arnold is living in Sunnyvale, California, which is just south of San Francisco. Nancy's email is lovelycuppat@hotmail.com  So, what are you up to, Nancy. Let us know!

Heard from Brendan Toolin. He sent a couple of really "old" pictures, which I've attached. Take a look and see if you can recognize these fellas! Ask Brendan...he knows who they are. There is that one tall, lanky fella in one picture...OH! Well, I'll have to one day scan the 1965 picture of Brendan that I have standing at the bus stop in front of Bushey Hall!

Bob Wayland and several other Bobcats who live up the East coast, survived Isabel's wrath this past fall. Bob and family's new home in White Stone, VA was without power for several days, but there was no structural damage. However, the sailboat, Rhapsody, survived without a hitch! Now, that's what is important! Wouldn't want that sailboat to have suffered any damage! Bob says, "Yesterday (which was back in Sept.) we returned her to our regular slip, which was undamaged, 3 miles from our house.  There was a friendly dolphin keeping us company as we prepared for the trip -- a nice juxtaposition of the fury and gentleness of nature." That was a great sign! Just glad you all are safe!

By the way...I have a new name for Sam "Al" Kelley! With his approval, I've named him "Samal," accent on the second syllable! Since we know him as Al (you know the one in the boy's bathroom!) I thought I'd have little fun! Helps me to remember who is who because names change, we change and hopefully, become a little wiser at this time in our lives! All in fun, Sam! Sam's new email address is sam.kelley1@comcast.net

Doug Lunsford has been working on his Ph.D. this past year. He's teaching again, twelve undergrad. classes, two of which are distance learning and an abnormal psyche. class. Hey, whatever floats your boat! In his spare time, he's been writing a screenplay, parallel to Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now, that sounds interesting. So, what do you do with the rest of your free time?? Let us know when you graduate, Doug!

The great thing about all of this is that we're back in touch with each other once again, sharing and caring. It's such a great feeling of WOW to get an email seeing who has checked out the LCHS website get a note from them. For instance, Sherry Bergman Kettering and Beverly Sheffield Wilhelm, FINALLY, figured out who
eachother were back in April of last year. I still have that note!

Subject: Re: Beverly: I just found out who you are!

Hi Bev:  So tell me, where are you?  Who are you?  (married, etc.) and what have you been doing....I only need to know about 30-40 years of your life!
Sherry

So, Jay, your efforts and others are greatly appreciated this new year, working so diligently on the LCHS Network!

One last bit of information. For those of you who had Mr. Jack Wernette and his wife, Peg Hebert Wernette at Bushey...I heard from them over the holidays. They are busy traveling around the countryside between New York and Texas, heading back to London after January. Mr. Wernette writes:

"My only problem is I haven't gotten really warm since I've been here, and I long to get to Texas the second day in January for some of that lovely mild, gentle sunshine that is so prevalent in those parts at this time of year."

You all have a safe trip back to jolly 'ole England!

Well, Bobcats, that's about it for now. Remember the New Orleans Reunion in May. The "Victors" are planning to play, including Jerry Donahue and Bill Smith! San Antonio Reunion is also this summer. Hope to see you all sometime in the near distant future. Remember, if you're ever in Atlanta or Augusta, let me know. I'm only a couple hours from Atlanta! I'll catch up with you later! Hope the New Year brings you peace and happiness. Write, Bobcats, Write!
